KitchenAid 5-Speed Diamond
Why buy it? You’ll get affordable and beautiful blender for worry-free daily kitchen basis, recommended by Cook’s Illustrated.
- Small, but powerful enough for ice crushing
- Die-cast metal base
- Variable 5 speed setting
- Less power for velvet smoothies
- Get stuck on thick masses or long operation
- Lid doesn’t fit well
- Tricky to remove container
The Good: This traditional-style blender comes with moderate power, 0.9 horsepower, but can handle most kitchen tasks quite well, and better than some others 1,000-watt machines. The performance isn’t that supreme, like Vitamix, but satisfied. It can crush ices and make good home-edition smoothies but still leaving chunky textures, like flakey snow, berry seeds or kale scatters. However, making mayonnaise and nut butter are beautifully done.
The control is simple and practical. It offers 5 speed settings: stir, chop, mix, puree or liquify and separated Crush ice button. Also, it has 1-to-5 variable speed Pulse that is useful for handling delicate jobs and dry grinding, like whipped cream. The interface looks elegant and easy to clean. The 5-Speed blender comes with 60-ounce BPA-free traditional jar, narrow and tall shape; this helps making better vortex effect.
Clearly, a big deal of this blender is the design. The appearance is outstandingly beautiful in modern-vintage look with tones of juicy color selections, which surely looks fabulous for any decorations. Moreover, for 16.5” tall, this blender is compact enough for sitting on most countertops.
The Bad: For moderately low power, some users claimed that it got stuck or stop, when handling long-time or extra hard blending. Moreover, the jar is a bit tricky to twist-off for those small-hand people. With narrow tall jar and partially downturned blades, it makes a bit hard to clean.
Recommended for home cooks who need a compact blender that is practical for kitchen multi-tasks, like smoothies, ice crushing, puree, or nut butters, in very reasonable price.
